In the system Information : Guidance Documents section is a link to an HSE publication INDG411. This sets out who is responsible for what and when.
Work lasting longer than 30 days (or 500 person days of work) requires you to;
- Appoint a CDM co-ordinator.

- Appoint a principal contractor
- Ensure a Health & Safety Plan is in place
- Keep the Health and Safety file.
Most construction work on site is actually building repair and maintenance work in which case the existing requirements for; Awareness, Planning, Risk Assessments, Safe Working Instructions, Rules for Contractors, Permits to Work, apply.
Construction repair and maintenance work may pose dangers to; contractors, staff, visitors, customers, and others, for which the employer (the DP and Directors) carry responsibility for Health & Safety arrangements.
