Vehicles

Most dealerships use a range of vehicles from; company cars, rental vehicles, vans, sales vehicles, customer vehicles, with delivery vehicles also visiting site.
Obviously, only persons who are qualified and authorised should be driving at work, or, in connection with work.
All vehicles, including employees vehicles, must be insured for use in connection with work.
Vehicles adapted for use by disabled persons may have controls that are unfamiliar; instruction on use should be carried out before operating.
Vehicles should be inspected before use and only used for the purposes for which they were designed.
Driving licences should be regularly checked, including any contractor staff e.g. valet staff, who move vehicles on site.
Pedestrians and vehicles need to be separated, walkways need to be clearly marked, both externally and internally, on the premises.
Signage directing pedestrian access should ideally avoid internal traffic crossings, or, have such crossing places clearly marked.
Doors should not open directly into roadways. Where this is unavoidable protective barriers should be erected to protect doors and pedestrians from vehicles.
Sleeping policemen (speed humps) may be effective at slowing vehicles down on site.
There is a considerable amount of HSE information available within the Guidance Document section of the Information/Library section of the system.
