Work at Height
It is more critical in winter low light conditions that workshop lights are all working. Changing bulbs requires a Risk Assessment and a Permit to Work – even if you are doing the work 'in house'. Ensure that the work and the area under the work is controlled by supervision. Training will be required before anyone can use a 'cherry picker'. Never allow the cherry picker to be moved when extended or when people are on board at height.
Roofing repairs and signage repairs have become a serious issue consequent of the recent gales. Ensure contractors have a Risk Asessment, completed your Rules for Contractors and have a Permit to Work.
Rain, Wind, Electricity, Heavy signs, and Working at Height combine to expose workers to risks that need to be controlled.
