Health Monitoring

Willis have professional association with a number of NHS Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) who offer on site health monitoring.

Health monitoring services are provided on a 'not for profit' basis by the PCT. The services are based on provision of objective advice to ensure clients do not incur unnecessary costs of tests and measures that are not required.

The practitioners will visit your sites and carry out measurements and observations to quantify and identify where preventive measures, control measures and protective measures are appropriate.

Air quality, noise, vibration, dermatological, manual handling, ergonomics, lighting, are all measured monitored and observed and appropriate advice given for the protection of those that may be affected.

Biological monitoring for iso-cyanate levels is currently only available via the HSE Laboratory in Sheffield.

In 2004 the Association of British Insurers (ABI) looked at companies using occupational health providers to reduce sickness absence by active case management. They concluded that these schemes can lead to a 10-40% reduction in compensation costs. Both long term sickness absence and litigation were reduced by up to 50%, and insurance costs were reduced by up to 40%.

The ABI concluded that the cost of employers liability claims could be reduced by 10-40%; employers uninsured injury and absence costs could be reduced by 15-30% and remaining general absence costs could be reduced by 10-40%. Cost to savings ratios were reported to be between £3 and £12 per pound spent on the scheme. In all cases the savings made far outweighed the costs of the scheme.
